TUNIS VILLAGE — THE ARTIST’S ESCAPE

On a hill overlooking Lake Qarun sits Tunis Village, one of Fayoum’s most artistic and peaceful destinations. The village became famous in the 1960s when Swiss potter Evelyne Porret helped introduce ceramic art workshops to local children and families.

What began as a small artistic experiment slowly transformed the village into a creative community filled with pottery studios, handmade crafts, small guesthouses, and quiet cafés.

But Tunis Village is more than aesthetics. It represents a different rhythm of life — slower mornings, handmade objects, conversations under trees, and sunsets over the lake.

Many people visit Fayoum searching for silence, and often they find it in Tunis Village.

على تلة مطلة على بحيرة قارون، موجودة قرية تونس — واحدة من أكتر الأماكن الفنية والهادية في الفيوم. القرية اشتهرت في الستينات لما الخزّافة السويسرية إيفلين بوريه بدأت تعلّم الأطفال والأهالي فنون الخزف.

اللي بدأ كتجربة فنية صغيرة، اتحول مع الوقت لمجتمع إبداعي مليان ورش فخار وحرف يدوية وبيوت ضيافة صغيرة وكافيهات هادية.

لكن قرية تونس مش مجرد شكل جمالي. هي أسلوب حياة مختلف — صباح أبطأ، حاجات معمولة بإيدين أصحابها، كلام تحت الشجر، وغروب على البحيرة.

ناس كتير بتروح الفيوم تدور على الهدوء، وغالبًا بتلاقيه هناك.
